A Spanish journalist accused of spying for GRU is arrested

According to Reuters, the Polish Internal Security Agency announced that a Spanish journalist named Pablo Gonzalez was arrested on the night of February 27-28 in the border town of Przemyski in southern Poland, where he stayed for several days.

The security agency said the journalist, identified as an agent of Russia’s military intelligence agency (GRU) and was preparing to travel to Ukraine.

Polish prosecutors said Gonzalez was active in other countries and had two passports and two Russian cards with two different names.

Gonzalo Boye, Gonzalez’s lawyer, confirmed his arrest on his Twitter account on Thursday evening, saying: “Pablo Gonzalez is accused of espionage and is temporarily imprisoned in Rzeszow prison.”
