The European Parliament has approved an immediate embargo on Russian oil and gas

“The position of the European Parliament is clear and sends the strongest messages of support to those at the forefront. This is a very important moment and a significant step,” said Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, after the vote on the resolution.

The European Commission has proposed to 27 countries to increase sanctions against Russia by halting the purchase of coal, which accounts for 45% of total EU imports, and closing European ports to Russian ships.
