Ebrahim Raisi: Developing relations with Russia and China is the regime’s foreign policy priority

In a telephone conversation with Vladimir Putin, Ibrahim Raisi the ruling Islamic Regime called the development of relations with Russia an important priority of the regime’s foreign policy and said: “We seek to remove obstacles in foreign relations and open new windows of cooperation and are determined to increase bilateral trade with Russia.” We are dedicated and committed to finalize the comprehensive document of Iran-Russia cooperation as soon as possible.  He praised Moscow’s initiative to launch the process of Iran’s membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and described it as a step towards strengthening the very close relations between the two countries.

In this telephone conversation, Vladimir Putin stated: “The words of the Supreme Leader of Iran, who said that the high level of mutual trust and high economic capacity in the two countries can lead to tangible results in bilateral areas, have played a good role in my memory.” I was informed of the proposal to conclude a comprehensive agreement on bilateral cooperation through the Speaker of the Russian Duma, who met with His Excellency on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony, and I welcome and support this positive initiative.

Ebrahim Ra’isi also said in a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping that the regime’s decision is to develop and strengthen strategic relations with China: “Upgrading the level of cooperation and expanding relations with China is the priority of the Iranian government in the field of foreign policy.” Full implementation of the comprehensive cooperation program between Iran and China should be on the agenda of all agencies of the two countries. The Islamic Republic regime, with full support for the principle of a united China, condemns the brazen interference of the United States in the internal affairs of this country.

Regarding the coronavirus, Raisi said: “The politicization of the issue of the origin of the Covid-19 epidemic is a serious threat to global health and is an example of the efforts of some countries to isolate China.”

Xi Jinping also expressed satisfaction with the fact that the relations between the two countries have been expanding in the last 50 years, regardless of the changing international conditions. And has had significant achievements.

The Chinese president praised Iran’s support for China over the origins of the coronavirus, saying that some Western countries have resorted to political games under the pretext of rooting out the spread of coronavirus.  Welcoming the participation of the Iranian counterpart in the “One Belt – One Way” initiative, the Chinese President announced Beijing’s readiness to strengthen cooperation with Tehran on this matter.
