As European countries and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) raised objections to the Islamic regime of Iran’s treatment in the nuclear case, Kayhan newspaper editor-in-chief Hossein Shariatmadari explicitly called for the regime to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

He wrote in Kayhan: “Examples of violations of the NPT by the United States, England، France and … is a long-detailed list, and especially over the last two decades, many other cases have been added to it.” Now the question is what has been the achievement of Islamic regime of Iran from two decades of nuclear challenge (first with the European Troika and then with the P5 + 1)?! Continuing the nuclear challenge is just a waste of time and imposing exorbitant costs on the nation and the system.  The ups and downs of the long-term nuclear challenge clearly shows that the IAEA – as Rumi stated – is a mad camel that never goes to Lily’s lodge.

Article 10 of the NPT states: If any party to the treaty determines that extraordinary events relating to the treaty have jeopardized the supreme interests of his country, he shall have the right to withdraw from the treaty in the exercise of his national sovereignty.
