“Russian forces are withdrawing from the northern parts of Ukraine,” the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in a video message.
Zelenskyy warned that departing Russian troops were creating a “catastrophic” situation for civilians by leaving mines around homes, abandoned equipment and “even the bodies of those killed.” His claims could not be independently verified.
Zelensky urged Ukrainians to wait to resume their normal lives until they are assured that the mines have been cleared and the danger of shelling is passed.
