Urmia’s police chief denied the cause of death of a teenager named Nima Shafiqdoost, who is said to have been killed in recent protests in this city, and claimed that this teenager died due to “severe infection due to a dog bite”.

Hassan Sheikhnezhad, Urmia’s police chief, announced that “the enemy controlled media are trying to mislead people by spreading false news.” He added: “The death of an Urmia teenager named Nima Shafiqdoost has nothing to do with the recent protests in this city.” We investigated and found out that this teenager was bitten by a dog about three weeks ago and was taken to a medical facility in Urmia, but his family refused to seek treatment in the hospital. He was treated at home, and unfortunately, due to the mass infection he passed away.”

16-year-old Nima of Salmas was shot by regime’s forces, was arrested in an Urmia hospital, and later his body was handed over to his family.
