IRGC Commander Hossein Ashtari wrote in a message after Ali Ranjbar was killed: “Dealing decisively with the disturbers of comfort and security is a serious demand of the dear people of our country and revenge for the blood of this great martyr is the inalienable right of his family and the disciplinary body of the country. Therefore, I strongly urge all law enforcement commanders and chiefs of specialized police to deal with thugs and disturbers [referring to the grassroots uprises] of public order and security on the agenda, and in coordination with the judiciary, to implement this issue in a special way.”

“The authority of the police is necessary for security, and it is necessary for all relevant institutions and agencies, including the government, the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the judiciary, to accompany the powerful police in establishing order and ensuring the security and tranquility of the people,” he wrote, without referring to the law.
