The Wall Street Journal reported that the remnants of the regime have rejected Oman’s proposed plan to equally divide the control of the Strait of Hormuz between the two countries.

According to this report, Kazem Gharibabadi, the deputy foreign minister of the regime, said that Tehran will enter the next stage of negotiations with the US only if the control of the major part of the Strait of Hormuz is handed over to Iran. In this regard, he added that Oman’s plan “does not solve Iran’s security concerns.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the mediators of the negotiations believe that Iran’s opposition to this proposal has hampered efforts to advance the initial agreement between Tehran and Washington.

This news is published while Reuters previously reported that Oman, with the support of the Persian Gulf countries, has proposed a plan for the management of the Strait of Hormuz, based on which the control of this waterway will be done jointly with a 50-50 division between Iran and Oman, and the cost of navigation services will also be collected on a voluntary basis.
