Israel’s defense ministry says it has reached a billion-dollar arms deal with the United States. The deal includes the purchase of 12 Lockheed Martin-Sikorsky CH-53K King Stallion heavy helicopters and two Boeing KC-46 refueling aircraft, and a contract has been signed.
According to the German news agency, the value of this arms deal is estimated at 2 billion and 700 million euros. The first helicopters are said to be delivered in 2026.
The New York Times recently reported that Israel had asked the United States to speed up the delivery of refueling aircraft.
The newspaper adds that this could play a decisive role in attacking Iran’s nuclear facilities. However, US officials have said it is impossible to prepare refueling aircraft before 2024.
