Russian Ambassador to Tehran: Hijab and alcohol prevent Russians from traveling to Iran

Lavan Jagarian, Russian Ambassador in Tehran، In an interview with the Russian magazine “Izvestia”, in response to a question about the reasons for the low number of Russian tourists visiting Iran, said: Unlike Thailand, the UAE, Turkey and other countries, many Russian tourists have never come to Iran, although there are many sights in Iran.

He stated that Iran is one of the oldest countries in the world and has a highly developed civilization، continued: “I have repeatedly and explicitly told the Iranians that two major issues are preventing the entry of Russian citizens and not only tourists to Iran.”One is the issue of women’s clothing guidelines, which today make hijab mandatory everywhere in the country, even in the heat, and the other is that alcohol is prohibited.
