Regarding the establishment of a Chinese consulate in Bandar Abbas, Mohammad Hussein Malaek said: “According to the Vienna Convention, which deals with diplomatic relations, countries have the right to have equivalent offices in other countries.” That is, if one country has an embassy or consulate general in another, the other country can also have an embassy or consulate. In fact, the number of our consulates in China reaches three, so according to the Convention on Diplomatic Relations, China has the right to have three consulates in Iran.

He added: “Considering that the relations between the two countries have increased a lot and we have defined many projects for the Chinese and they are present in Iran, the number of Chinese in Iran is between 5 to 6,000, so for the issues and problems they face, They need a consulate. Probably, the Tehran consulate did not provide enough for this number and for this reason, they requested another consulate.

The former ambassador of the Islamic regime of Iran to China said: Bandar Abbas is the most important maritime hub of the country and all ships coming or going from China will anchor in Bandar Abbas. Therefore, this consulate is created for their affairs.

He added: “The Chinese have predicted that they can make a big contribution to the development of Makran, for this a large number of Chinese companies should be located there.” In addition, they have activities in Chabahar. It also needs a consulate to support these Chinese nationals. So this is a predictable and correct technical action.
