The director general of the Office of Counseling and Health of the Student Affairs Organization said that as a result of the census of 19,000 students, one third of the students lost a number of their family members to coronavirus.

Emphasizing that “limited and gradual reopening of universities is on the agenda of the Ministry of Science”, Majid Saffari-nia added: “It is necessary to vaccinate 70% of the population and review the existing health procedures.”

So far, less than 17% of the Iranian population has received both doses of the Coronavirus vaccine.  According to the latest official statistics from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, the number of students in the country in 2019 was about 3.4 million, and even assuming Saffari-nia’s words are true, the actual number of Covid-19 victims is much higher than the official figures reported by the Islamic regime of Iran.
