Saskia Esken, one of the two leaders of the German Social Democratic Party, called on former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder to resign from the Russian companies. “Rosneft and Gazprom are the infrastructure of a bloody war of aggression,” Esken wrote on Twitter.

She added: “With his mandates there, Gerhard Schroeder is damaging the reputation of Germany and social democracy. Dealings with a warmonger are incompatible with the role of a former chancellor.”
