According to the statement, the incident took place yesterday, December 15, and a US Navy spokesman said the men were seen pouring liquids on the cargo and the front deck of the ship before the ship exploded and caught fire.<\/p>\n
Two tonnes of drugs worth nearly $15 million were reportedly seized from the ship, 1745kg of cannabis, 500kg of methamphetamine and 30kg of heroin were among the substances discovered.<\/p>\n
The Associated Press reported that officials from the Islamic regime of Iran had not yet responded to Wednesday’s incident, saying that an Iranian occupant had disappeared from the boat. The United States Navy and its allies are conducting ongoing patrols in the area to counter drug-carrying vessels.<\/p>\n
