Javan Newspaper, affiliated with the IRGC, quoted an epidemiologist as saying that the death toll of Covid-19 in Iran is “seven times higher than the announced 100,000 official figures” or roughly about 700,000.

The newspaper quoted Kourosh Holakouee Naeini, a professor of epidemiology at the University of Tehran, as saying: “According to Iraj Haririchi, the Deputy Director of the Ministry of Health, the death toll should be doubled and tripled, but I say you can increase the death toll to seven times higher.” “In September of last year, we estimated 350,000 deaths.”

“In the Ministry of Health, data is engineered so that if you ask me for a document, I do not have a document, because, I do not have access to the data, and, the data is not available,” said the University Professor.

Zali, the Commander of The Covid-19 Task Force in Tehran, was also quoted by Javan Newspaper as saying, “We have given false statistics to the World Health Organization.”

Kourosh Holakouee Naini warns of a sixth Covid-19 wave with increasing intensity and death: “If we do not take the necessary interventions, the next peak will be stronger and we will have more deaths.”

“Lockdown must be carried out in the style of martial law, and the officials at the National Covid-19 Task Force Headquarters who blame the rotation of the virus on new delta, Indian and UK strains, due to their own poor management, must go to trial.”

According to the Ministry of Health, the death toll rose to 709 daily on Tuesday, bringing the total death toll to 103,357.
