Telegram CEO Pavel Durov announced that 70 million new users had joined Telegram in the six hours since Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp were disrupted yesterday.
Announcing that Telegram had set a new record for itself, Durov called on old Telegram users to help new users. He also said that some users in the United States may experience slow speeds on telegram.
“Welcome to Telegram, the world’s largest independent messenger,” Durov wrote at the end of his address to the new users. “We will no disappoint you, when others do.”
