Russia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council has been suspended

The UN General Assembly voted by a majority on Thursday to suspend Russia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council.

Of the 193 members of the UN General Assembly, 93 voted in favor of a US resolution calling for Russia’s suspension of membership in the Human Rights Council.

With the exception of Russia itself, only 23 countries, including Iran, China, Belarus, Syria, Mali, Zimbabwe, Cuba and Central Asia, voted against the resolution and 58 abstained.
