During the review of the 2022-2023 budget of Iran, the regime parliament passed a resolution according to which crude oil worth 4 billion and 500 million Euros will be given to “individuals” to sell it and spend it for military expenses. This amount is in addition to the regime’s military budget.

The parliament did not mention who the crude oil was to be delivered to and only stated that they would be given sufficient guarantees. A number of experts and economists have warned of increasing corruption and the recurrence of phenomena such as Babak Zanjani if crude oil is refined.

Officials of the ruling Islamic regime in Iran have raised the issue of crude oil purification after problems in oil sales due to sanctions, and part of the oil sales are done by the Revolutionary Guards and some other institutions. Meanwhile, the Khatam al-Anbiya base of the Revolutionary Guards is expected to receive 2,000 billion Iranian currency tomans of crude oil to complete the propaganda congregational prayer building.
